South Florida Man Gets Life for Stabbing Girlfriend

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ A South Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally stabbing his girlfriend.

A Palm Beach County judge sentenced 51-year-old Christopher Sharpe on Wednesday after a jury convicted him of first-degree murder.

Authorities say Sharpe spent two weeks at his Boca Raton home with 36-year-old Pamela Powers’ dead body after killing her in 2009.

Sharpe’s attorney claimed the man was acting in self-defense.

According to The Palm Beach Post (http://bit.ly/PIvzXP), the attorney told jurors that Powers had a history of drinking and attacked Sharpe with a knife.

The attorney said Sharpe accidentally killed his girlfriend while trying to subdue her.
