According to the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, units responded to a vehicle accident at CR 39 & CR 672 in Lithia. Upon arrival, HCFR crews found a dump truck carrying dirtthat rolled on top of a car. There was a male patient trapped inside the car.
Fire rescue crews quickly called for a Heavy Rescue unit which specializes in these type of calls. They are trained and certified to manage complicated extractions like this incident.
Multiple crews were fervently working together to rescue the person trapped. It took 1 hour and 27 seconds to rescue the patient.
The patient was treated by our paramedics and transported to a medical helicopter for treatment at at a local trauma center. There were no injuries reported to the driver of the dump truck. Hillsborough County Sheriff Office will be investigating the scene and cause of the accident.
