Senate Vote Expected On Keystone XL Pipeline

The Democrat-controlled Senate is expected on Tuesday to vote on approval of the controversial Keystone XL oil pipeline. This has been in the works for about six years.

They’ll need 60 votes to proceed. Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu has spear-head the movement, often clashing with her democratic counterparts.

Supporters scrambled to gather votes to pass a bill that authorizes the project, but the task was made harder after President Obama made his toughest comments yet about the duct.

The President criticized the project during his Asia trip, saying it would not lower fuel prices for drivers, but would allow Canada to “pump their oil, send it through our land, down to the Gulf, where it will be sold everywhere else.
