Second Polk Country rape suspect arrested

POINCIANA, Fla. – A second suspect in a brutal Polk County rape case has been arrested.

Danny Delgado Cruz, 29, was taken into custody in Kissimmee by Kissimmee police officers around 7 p.m. Thursday evening. Polk County sheriff’s deputies were questioning Cruz, who is expected to be transported from the Osceola County Jail back to Polk County on Friday morning.

Cruz is the second suspect in a sexual assault that Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd called one of the most horrific cases he has ever seen. Cruz’s brother, 33-year-old Richard Delgado Cruz, is already in custody.

Deputies said the two men raped a woman in her home while her husband and son were tied up in the next room. They then doused the woman with bleach, presumably to attempt to erase any evidence of the crime, according to Sheriff Judd. It happened near Puffer Court and Halibut Lane in Poinciana.

According to a report by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the men stole nearly $500 and thousands of dollars in jewelry. According to Sheriff Judd, both men have criminal records.
