TORRY ISLAND, Fla. (AP) _ Authorities are searching for a missing boater on Lake Okeechobee.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says the boater called his mother on his cellphone early Friday saying he was stuck somewhere near Torry Island.
The sheriff’s department aviation team spent over an hour searching but didn’t find him. The county’s fire rescue department also deployed an air boat to aid in the search.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is leading the search for the man.
