(UPDATE) 12;40 p.m. A 42 year old woman is hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries and her 18 month old grandchild is in stable condition after getting hit by a car as they crossed U.S. 301 in Sarasota illegally.
The driver will not face charges but the grandmother may.

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) _ Police say a vehicle hit a woman pushing a baby stroller across a road in Sarasota.
Sarasota police spokeswoman Genevieve Judge said in a news release the child was flown to a hospital shortly after the Tuesday morning crash.
It wasn’t clear whether the woman was injured.
The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with authorities.
The crash happened along U.S. 301 in Sarasota.
