The Florida Department of Health says a person has died because of bacteria contracted in Escambia County waters.
The vibrio vulnificus bacteria gets into the human body through open wounds and by eating raw shellfish. It is said to live in warm salt water.
This is the 19th case this year and the 10th to be fatal.
