A Hazmat situation has broken out at the Bay Pines VA Hospital in St. Petersburg after a suspicious package has been found.
An emergency drill was going on when someone in the mail center found an envelope with white powder inside it. 22 people were exposed are being examined.
The Pinellas County Department of Health is testing the substance and initial tests show it could be dangerous. Thus, the testing will continue.
The hospital is still open but the area where the substance was discovered has been evacuated.
VA police as well as the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will investigate who sent the envelope.
