St. Pete Teacher Carjacked In School Parking Lot

A 37-year-old teacher arrived for work and was carjacked in the parking lot, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Police say that at about 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, the victim exited her 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander at Bay Vista Elementary School when a suspect came up from behind her armed with a handgun and demanded her keys and purse.

After she surrendered the items to the suspect, she fled to the school and the suspect drove off. Her car was later recovered in the 5100 block of Dr. MLK Street South about a half hour later.

The only suspect description is a black male wearing a gray hoodie, according to police.

The victim was emotionally shaken, but uninjured.
