A small sperm whale that washed up on a Pinellas County beach has to be euthanized Tuesday morning.
According to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the animal was found beached on Indian Shores and it had multiple small bite wounds that appear to be from a shark.
It was possible the whale was a baby considering these whales grow to about nine to 11 feet in length at full size.
Typically when you see a beached whale or dolphin it has something wrong with it, meaning it’s not an accident. A necropsy is planned to find out if there was an underlying illness.
