Buyer Killed In St. Pete Drug Deal Gone Bad

 

(UPDATE   3 p.m.)      The woman who died during a drug deal this morning in St. Petersburg is now identified as 30 year old Verna How.

Earlier:

St. Petersburg police are investigating a homicide they say is connected to drugs.

According to police, the incident happened at about 10:40 p.m. Monday night at 13th Avenue and 28th Street North.

The victim called the suspect to the area to purchase narcotics. According to a witness, the victim appeared to have reached inside the suspect’s vehicle through the driver’s door as it drove forward. The victim then let go of the car and hit the pavement.

She was transported to Bayforont Medical Hospital where she died of her injuries.

Detectives are working on a viable lead. The investigation is ongoing.
