Babysitter molested 2-year-old, police say
Police arrested a 53-year-old man they said sexually battered a toddler he was supposed to be babysitting.
Stephen Pierce of Clearwater was booked early Thursday into the Pinellas County Jail without bail on a charge of sexual battery of a child under the age of 12.
Police said the victim is a 2-year-old girl. They said Pierce was staying with the girl’s family and was supposed to watch her while her mother was out for the evening.
Officials said Pierce molested the girl while she was sleeping. But during the act, the child’s mother came home and caught him.
The family called police, who said Pierce admitted to the crime.
