They went into the early morning hours before the votes were finally counted only to revieal that former Massachusetts Govenor Mitt Romeny won the Iowa caucuse by eight votes.
Chairman of the Iowa Republican party, Matt Strawn, made the announcement around 2:30 this morning that Romney narrowly edged out former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.
Strawn said Romney got 30,015 voites and Santorum had 30,007 votes, just an eight vote difference.
Following Romeny and Santorum was Ron Paul coming in 3rd then Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann.
The media was allerted to a press confrence announcement to be held by Bachmann this morning at 10 a.m.
