Reward Offered for Information in Guard’s Death

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ The company that employed a security guard who was slain while patrolling an apartment complex is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer.

Michael Valentin, 38, was killed the night before Thanksgiving while working at the Grande Oak Apartments.

His employer, Criminal Intervention Services, offered the reward on Tuesday.

Tampa Police said Valentin was found dead by officers outside the clubhouse with his gun still holstered. Police said the guard had upper body trauma.

Officers had been responding to the complex after its guards reported a suspect with a warrant. Valentin was killed before they arrived.

Residents told reporters they heard a shot but police refused to discuss the Valentin’s wounds.

Police detained several people for questioning but no one has been arrested.
