WASHINGTON – The creator of Broadway musical sensation ‘Hamilton,’ – Lin-Manuel Miranda – freestyled in the Rose Garden with the President of the United States in a video the White House posted this week. President Barack Obama flipped through the cue cards as Miranda riffed off the words. The president often gets a bad rap – but in this case, if you listen to Miranda’s freestyle – I think he deserves it.
Some might argue that Obama was trying to connect with young people. If so, what message was he trying to communicate? There was no overarching message to this rap performance. Even his appearance on “Between Two Ferns” had a specific point. Our next president needs to do more work and less freestyling.
