Morning drivers are asked to use extra caution this morning as the storms that blanketed the area overnight are producing slick slippery roads.
The rain moved in ahead of a cold front that should pass over the area sometime this afternoon, bringing with it cooler temperatures for the weekend.
There were gusty winds, heavy rain and some lightning around 2:30 a.m. this morning. Some of the wind gusts were up to 31 mph.
The storms are part of a bigger system that is bringing snow to northern cities and will bring cooler weather to the Tampa Bay area.
By noon, temperatures will reach the mid-70s and by 3 p.m. the area should be mostly dry.
Though some clouds may stick around on Saturday, rain is not in the forecast and high temperatures will be in the mid-70s, to low 70’s Sunday with the over night lows getting back into the mid 5-‘s.
