Publix To Open First Dade City Store

Publix is expanding to Dade City with plans to open its first store in the Pasco County town next year.

The supermarket is expected to be built on a site that currently contains an orange grove at the northeast corner of Clinton Avenue and U.S. 301, the Tampa Tribunesaid. The chain chose Dade City because of demographics and a significant distance to the next closest store, a city official told the Tribune.

An announcement of the new store has not been formally made by Publix, but the store is expected to be built by Perfection Partners Limited Partnership of Vero Beach, the Tribune said.
