After five years, today is the day you will be able to see the cities top three designs for the replacment of the old St. Petersburg Pier.
The three finalists were part of an international design competition, submitted their visions for the landmark Tuesday night to city officials and for the first time this morning, the public will be able to see the designs on the city’s website, www.stpete.org, after 10 a.m.
City officials started discussing what to do with the St. Peter Pier five years ago and voted last year to demolish the current inverted pyramid, and build a new one.
There was so little agreement on how to replace The Pier, the city launched the design competition earlier this year and received almost 30 submissions.
Once a city-selected jury ranks the designs, the city council will approve the final choice in January.
