PTSD Plagued Vet On Trial For Shooting Local Deputy

A former U.S. Marine accused of shooting at least 9 rounds at a Hillsborough Sheriff’s deputy at his Carrollwood home to investigate a domestic abuse call is on trial.

27 year old Matthew Buendia did three tours in the Middle East and was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder several years ago.

His lawyer says he didn’t know what he was doing when he opened fire on Deputy Lyonelle De Veaux.

The deputy was hit three times but survived.

Buendia is charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
