On Thursday, the nation’s first African-American Attorney General announced his intent to leave his post. Aids say that Eric Holder told President Obama about his plan to leave months ago, wrapping up talks around labor day.
AG Holder has had regular dust-ups with Republicans in the House, who found held him in contempt in 2012. Holder says he’ll stay on with the Administration until his successor is confirmed.
