Pinellas Teacher Arrested With Child Neglect Charges

Saturday afternoon a woman called 911 to report that she could not find her 5-year-old sun, but she was argumentative, uncooperative and apparently intoxicated when officers arrived, according to the Tampa Tribune.

The woman, Elizabeth Prescan, would not allow officers to search her home when they showed up and she attempted to run back inside away from the police.

Eventually Prescan told officers the boy could be with his father, at which point the police contacted him and found out the boy was safe at a friend’s home. Prescan, on the other hand, was arrested on charges of neglect of a child, resisting an officer without violence and battery on a law enforcement officer.

Prescan is a math teacher at Thurgood Marshall Fundamental Middle School in St. Petersburg.
