ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ Deputies say some Good Samaritans helped foil a heist by a phony auditor at a central Florida Dunkin’ Donuts.
According to Orange County Sheriff’s deputies, a man dressed in a suit told employees at a doughnut shop on Monday that he was with the company’s corporate headquarters and was there to conduct an audit.
The Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/JBgCaJ ) reports that employees pulled the cash register drawer and went into the back office as instructed by the man.
That’s when the suspect grabbed the cash and ran.
Several customers inside the shop and the employees took chase and captured the man about 200 yards away.
They held him until deputies arrived.
Deputies arrested 48-year-old Ricardo Diaz on charges of robbery, petit theft and burglary.
He remains in the Orange County Jail.
