Police are investigating a fatal accident that left one pedestrian dead Monday night in the 6600 block of U.S. 19 N.
The crash took place at 6:57 p.m. According to Pinellas Park police, a man crossing northbound U.S. 19 walked into the path of an oncoming vehicle and was struck. The pedestrian was transported to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg where he was later pronounced dead.
The northbound lanes of the highway were closed and traffic re-routed until 11 p.m. while investigators worked the accident scene.
