Small Plane Crashes In Spring Hill

A small, private plane taxiing on a Pilot Country runway went into a retention pond early Thursday morning in Spring Hill.

The Pasco County Emergency Communications Center received a call at 9:24 a.m. Thursday reporting the accident, which took place at 11500 Pilot Country Drive in Spring Hill. The pilot, Stephen Barton, was not injured. He was evaluated at the scene by Pasco County Fire Rescue members. No one else was inside the plane at the time of the crash.

The plane, a 1958 Cessna 172, leaked about two gallons of fuel into the pond, which is located at the front of the small airport.
