Palmetto Teen Charged With First-Degree Murder

After 16-year-old Justin Fabien was shot and killed at around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning, a Palmetto teen responsible for his death turned himself into authorities Thursday.

WFLA reports that Jamari Lamon Murray-Barnes, age 17, who turned himself in, was wanted for the shooting death of Fabien.

Murray-Barns was charged with one count of first degree murder, but detectives say he is not cooperating with investigators at this point.

Bradenton police responded to a call about shots being fired in the 1200 block of East 21 Street and found Fabien’s body on the ground. After performing CPR, he was declared dead twenty minutes later.

Fabien’s death was ruled the third homicide of the year.
