Universal Announces Nintendo Theme Park

Universal And Nintendo Partnering For Theme Park

Last year news broke that Universal Studios and Nintendo would be partnering up for something fun and new, but wouldn’t say what was exactly in the works. Today Universal announced that a Nintendo expansion would be added to the theme parks.

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and Universal Creative’s Mark Woodbury explained in a video their vision for bringing Mario and friends to Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan.

Here is a breakdown of what is expected to come to the world of Nintendo:

  • The highly themed areas will be expansive, immersive and interactive. The authentic environments will be filled with multiple attractions, shops and restaurants.
  • The video games will be brought to real life for fans.
  • There will be something for fans of all ages and gaming experience levels.

Construction on the Nintendo themed parks has already begun and is expected to open at the three parks over the next several years.

Universal Studios released the following statement on their website:

“The goal of everyone on this project is clear: to bring the characters, action and adventure of Nintendo video games to life within Universal theme parks. And to do so in new and innovative ways that capture what makes them so special.”

Each individual theme park will release further information about the expansion soon.

Fans are excited for what is set to come in the next few years.
