Orlando Man Tells City He Won’t Remove His Veg Garden

Jason H. is a friendly fellow, but don’t mess with his garden or what he sees as his individual rights. Recently, the City of Orlando told him he must remove his vegetable garden from his front yard because it is a violation of city code.

A homeowner from out of town (visiting her tenant-occupied property) complained it might harm property values in the neighborhood. The rest of Jason’s neighbors seem to be supportive of his efforts, including the tenants of the homeowner who complained to the City.

His story has spread nationwide with calls coming to him from other sustainable gardening groups to civil liberty and constitutional organizations.

We had the opportunity to speak with him on the show. Here is his story:
