One Left Critically Injured In Selmon Expressway Three-Car Crash

One person was left critically injured and another is in serious condition after a three-car crash early Sunday morning on the Selmon Expressway, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Phillip Pereira De Souza was driving eastbound east of U.S. 41 when he struck a car on the outside shoulder. Makayla Anne Harrell was the driver stopped on the side of the road due to a flat tire.

She was struck after De Souza lost control of his car, causing him to crash into Harrell’s vehicle and force it into the guardrail. This forced De Souza’s vehicle eastbound, where another driver, Christopher J. Kennedy, then crashed into his car.

De Souza, 25, suffered serious injuries and one of Harrell’s passengers, Tyra Janelle Brown, 18, was critically injured. The rest involved suffered only minor injuries, with everyone except for Kennedy being transported to Tampa General Hospital.
