On Sunday June 8 at approximately 9:51 p.m., a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle driven by 23 year-old Greggory Henniger was traveling north on First St. N. at an undetermined rate of speed approaching the intersection of Ave. O N.E.
At the same time a 2002 Nissan Altima, driven by 55 year-old Wilner Hilaire was traveling south on First St. N. A 2013 Nissan Altima, driven by 35 year-old Jn Antoine Volele with passenger 28 year-old Maglorie Gustave Jr. was stopped on Ave. O N.E. waiting to turn north onto First St.
Hilaire began to turn onto Ave. O, N.E. crossing northbound lanes of travel when Greggory Henniger’s motorcycle collided with the right front wheel area of Hilaire’s 2002 Nissan Altima. The impact from the crash pushed Hilaire’s vehicle into Volele’s vehicle that was stopped on Ave. O N.E.
Henniger was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
All other subjects were treated and released for minor injuries at Winter Haven Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
When officers arrived on scene, passenger Gustave was attempting to walk away from the crash scene. Officers followed to make certain he didn’t require medical attention when Gustave threw a potato chip bag on the ground. Officers retrieved the bag and found marijuana in excess of 20 grams and crack cocaine in the bag. Gustave was placed under arrest and after medical treatment for minor injuries from the crash, he was booked into the Polk Count Jail on felony drug charges.
