Olive Garden to Begin New Ad Campaign

NEW YORK (AP) _ When you’re at Olive Garden, you’re part of a modern family that may not have time for a leisurely dinner.

That’s the message behind a new ad campaign the Italian chain will start airing Sunday.

After 14 years, Olive Garden is abandoning its “When You’re Here, You’re Family” tagline as it looks to freshen up its image and boost struggling sales.

The new ads will kick off a year-long overhaul for Olive Garden to focus on affordability and greater variety.

The changes also include a new menu section focusing on lighter dishes with 575 calories or less, and a “Dinner Today, Dinner Tomorrow” offer, which gives customers a second meal to take home.

Olive Garden is owned by Orlando, Fla.-based Darden Restaurants Inc.
