Ohio Woman With 5 Kids In Vehicle Charged After Police Chase

AKRON, Ohio — An Ohio woman has been arraigned on charges of child endangering and other counts after fleeing police in an SUV that later crashed with five children inside.

Police say 33-year-old Lashawnna Taylor, of Akron, sped away from officers late Tuesday. Officers stopped the chase upon seeing a child in the vehicle.

Taylor then crashed into a snowbank and struck two poles before the vehicle flipped. Authorities say a 2-year-old boy was ejected from the vehicle and suffered a broken leg. Taylor, another woman and four other children had minor injuries. No one was wearing a seatbelt.

Four of the children were Taylor’s. She’s charged with five counts of child endangering, one count of fleeing from police and misdemeanor charges including drunken driving. She was arraigned Thursday on $150,000 bond. No attorney was listed.
