Officials: 3 Died In Weekend Orlando Helicopter Crash

ORLANDO, Fla. — Police say 3 people died when a helicopter crashed into the unoccupied guest home of a house near downtown Orlando.

The helicopter crashed Sunday afternoon in a neighborhood of large, historic homes.

Orlando police reported then that one person was found dead. On Monday, police spokeswoman Sgt. Wanda Ford said the count had increased to three dead. Police say only three people were onboard and they aren’t looking for anyone else.

Police haven’t released names of those who died or other details.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the cause.

Officials haven’t offered any preliminary theories.

The helicopter took off from the nearby Orlando Executive Airport. FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen has said the Robinson R44 helicopter flew about two miles before it crashed.
