Ocala Woman Arrested After Death Of Baby Left With Children

OCALA, Fla. — A north Florida woman faces manslaughter charges after police say she left three young children home alone resulting in the death of a 3-month-old girl.

Ocala police say 28-year-old Tyecka Evans was arrested Tuesday after interviews with detectives about the incident last Thursday.

Police say surveillance video from Evans’ apartment building show her arriving in a car with her sister at 2:36 a.m. on March 26.

Authorities say the video shows her later leaving the apartment with the baby in the direction of a patrol car and medical personnel.

The Ocala Star-Banner reports that Evans left 3-month-old Taliya Richardson, her 9-year-old daughter and her sister’s 1-year-old son alone while she went to a club.

The baby’s cause of death was unclear, and Evans declined an interview with the newspaper.
