Obama’s Motorcade Involved In Accident

Two motorcycle officers in President Barack Obama’s motorcade sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital after an accident Wednesday, Miami Police said.

The accident occurred around 9 p.m. on southbound Interstate 95 near where it meets State Road 836, police said.

Sgt. Rufus Devane III, 42, and Sgt. Santiago Cruz, 49, were involved in a crash while approaching an on-ramp, according to police. A preliminary investigation indicated an abandoned vehicle on the shoulder of the road may have contributed to the crash, though the investigation is not complete, police said.

The two sergeants were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. One officer had road rash and the other sustained a back injury and minor facial trauma.

Miami Police said they’re investigating the crash.
