Nidal Hasan’s Victims To Receive Purple Heart

Nearly six years after Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan opened fire on fellow soldiers in a processing center at Fort Hood, Texas, killing 13 and wounding 30 more, the victims of that rampage will receive the Purple Heart on Friday. Nearly four dozen medals are to be awarded in a ceremony near the spot where the shooting took place in November, 2009. The long delay came because the military initially categorized the incident as “workplace violence,” instead of an act of terrorism.

ABC’s Jim Ryan will be at the ceremony at Fort Hood.
