The times are changing around the ancient circle of Stonehenge. Britain plans to dig a road tunnel near the prehistoric monument to ease congestion. The highway in southwest England that runs alongside the site has long been plagued by traffic jams.
It’s part of a 23-billion-dollar plan to upgrade Britain’s road system and remove some of the worst bottlenecks. No one knows for sure how ancient Britons got the stones, which weigh up to 45 tons, to the site or what they used them for. No date has been set for construction to begin.
