Mother Chains Sons Hands Then Stabs Him

LAKE WALES, Fla. (AP) _ A 42-year-old woman was arrested and charged with repeatedly stabbing her 7-year-old son.
 
 The Lakeland Ledger (http://bit.ly/QbguBm) reports that Lake Wales police charged Maisa Alvarez with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse on Tuesday.
 
 Officials say they discovered Alvarez had chained her son’s hands together and then stabbed him in the chest as he lay in bed.

The boy awoke when his mother began chaining his hands together and began trying to defend himself. 
 
 The boy was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, where he is in stable condition.

Police say none of the wounds he sustained are life threatening.
 
 She was taken to the Polk County Jail where she’s being held without bail.
