Mom: Bus Driver Forced 6-Year-Old To Walk Home In Snow

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis mother says she’s outraged that a school bus driver made her 6-year-old son get off at the wrong stop, forcing him to walk home through knee-deep snow along a busy roadway.

WXIN-TV reports that the incident happened Monday on the city’s southwest side.

Kelly Beers says her son, Cameron, came running home to their apartment red-faced and crying. He told her that a substitute bus driver wouldn’t listen to him when he said he didn’t live at the stop, about a half mile from the boy’s home.

The boy’s adoptive father was killed last year while walking along a roadside when deep snow covered the sidewalks.

A Decatur Township Schools spokeswoman says officials are investigating the incident and will consider how to prevent it from happening again.
