Hurricane Irma Evacuation Shelters: Miami-Dade County

On Wednesday morning Hurricane Irma slammed the Carribean with 185 mph winds and heavy rain. The category five storm is expected to shift east and make landfall near Miami-Dade Monday morning.

Governor Rick Scott is urging Florida residents to take Irma seriously. He warned that the “massive storm” could be more devastating than Hurricane Andrew, which hit Florida 25 years ago.

For Miami-Dade County, there are some evacuation shelters open to those in need of safety. Here is a list of evacuation shelters:
