PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Police shot and killed a man who fired weapons at them outside a motel in Palm Beach Gardens.
The shooting happened around 9 p.m. Thursday at the Inn of America just west of Interstate 95.
The Palm Beach Post reports a woman went into the lobby and the staff she was having trouble with her boyfriend and that he had a gun.
Police commander Bill Brandt says someone from the office called police. When officers arrived, the man raised his weapon and fired at least one shot at the officers. They returned fired, killing him.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation.
The Post reports it was the thirteenth police shooting in Palm Beach County in 2014 and the fifth resulting in a fatality.
