Man tries to Strangle Wife over ex-Buc Comment

All she said was she thought ex-Buccaneer player Warren Sapp “seemed nice”, but it was enough to enrage her husband.

The Pasco County man, Christopher Ellis, 49, was watching football Saturday.  Officials say he had been drinking and was angry.

According to the arrest report, Ellis started arguing with his wife after she said, she thought Sapp, the controversial former defensive lineman for the Bucs, now TV commentator, “seemed nice”.

Inside their Lake Padgett Estates East home, Ellis followed his wife into the kitchen and grabbed her by the throat, shoving her into their bedroom where he pinned her down on the bed, squeezed her throat and threatened to punch her teeth out and slapped her on the side of her head, the report states.

Mrs. Ellis, got free and called 911.

Ellis was taken to jail and charged with battery by strangulation.
