Authorities have identified the man hit by a St. Petersburg Police car as he slept in the middle of the road near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South and Lake Maggiore Boulevard this morning.
They say 67 year old Mark Duffy disappeared two days ago from the Wirick Assisted Living Facility in St. Petersburg.
The officer stopped and called for help as soon as he realized what happened.
Duffy remains in serious condition at a local hospital.
