Man hits woman with car on purpose

A man led police on a pursuit Monday afternoon through northeast Tampa after hitting a woman with a rental car, officials said.

Michael Donnell Mack, 29, got into an argument about 4 p.m. with Audrey S Gilchrist, 24, and intentionally hit her while driving a 2011 Chevrolet Impala near 8414 N Mulberry St., police said. Gilchrist suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.

A police helicopter spotted the car and patrol cars followed it through northeast Tampa and Temple Terrace, authorities said. The chase ended near 7409 Lakeshore Drive when Mack stopped and tried to run before officers caught him, police said.

Mack was found with 112 grams of marijuana and a large amount of cash, police said. He also had several arrest warrants for charges including aggravated assault and probation violation.

He was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, driving while license revoked, fleeing and eluding, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
