A Miami man who was shot and killed in the driveway of a marijuana grow house near Orange City has been identified. Deputies said they found 35 year old Emilio Ortiz Monday night at the home on Florida Avenue after receiving a 911 call. Investigators did not find anyone else inside or outside of the home, but did find what appeared to be a marijuana grow operation. Drug agents confiscated 69 marijuana plants from the house on Florida Avenue and another 32 at a home on Lehigh Drive as part of an ongoing investigation. Later on Monday, 22 year old Cesar Garcia showed up at the Florida Hospital Fish Memorial emergency room with a gunshot wound to his leg. Investigators said he is recovering at Halifax Medical Center and is cooperating with deputies. No charges or arrests have been made in Ortiz’s shooting death or in connection with the marijuana plants found.
