The Tampa Bay Times reports the man was one of three passengers in a single-vehicle crash Sunday night in St. Petersburg. The passenger got out of the SUV on the Sunshine Skyway and backed up out of traffic but hit the side barrier of the bridge and fell backward into the water.
Witnesses flagged down a police officer and rescue units pulled the man from the water. No information was available about the extent of his injuries. Police on the scene estimated the fall to be at least 30 feet.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
