Man, Dog Die In Dunedin Condo Fire

Fire rescue crews are working a fire at the Scottish Towers Condos located at 444 North Paula Drive in Dunedin. The fire broke out around 5:30 am and was upgraded a two-alarm fire just before 6 am, but when crews arrived they only found smoke.

According to investigators, the fire appears to have started near the bed in the studio apartment. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Deputies say the fire is not suspicious in nature.

54-year-old Ronald Riley and his dog “Niles” were found deceased inside the apartment. Deputies say there was a working smoke alarm inside the apartment.

A neighbor called 9-1-1 after walking by and finding soot on the window, according to the Dunedin fire chief.
