Largo Red Lobster Evacuated After Bomb Scare

A Largo Red Lobster was evacuated Thursday afternoon after a bomb scare.

Largo police say a black male with a black bag, identified as 48-year-old Freddie Claudrick Bryant, walked into the Red Lobster in the Largo Mall at 10500 Ulmerton Road at 3:06 pm Thursday. According to the general manager, Bryant told the hostess at the front desk “Just to make you smile, I work for the Taliban and I have a bomb in this bag.”

When Bryant asked for a booth near a window, he and an unknown female were seated away from other patrons. At the direction of the police, the customers and staff were quietly evacuated through the east door to the restaurant.

Patrol officers set a perimeter around the building. At 3:20 pm, Bryant exited the front door and told officers that there was nothing in the bag and that he was just joking.

Bryant was arrested for False Report Concerning Planting a Bomb or Explosive, a second degree felony. Police confirmed there was no explosives in the bag. There were no injuries.
