Largo City Commission Seat 3 candidate Robert Avery is in jail, charged with extortion.
Police say the 31 year old anonymously e-mailed a competitor, Aaron Darr, telling him that he must drop out of the race, or embarrassing information would be made public about Darr.
Police simply traced the anonymous e-mail back to Avery’s IP address and arrested him.
Bond is set at $10 thousand.
