Lakeland Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy in the March 18th sexual battery at the Hyatt Hotel at the Lakeland Center
The boy is being charged with Sexual Battery w/serious personal injury, Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, and Robbery.
Officials say that on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Violent Crimes Unit Detectives followed leads that identified juvenile as a possible suspect in the sexual battery.
The boy had been reported missing by his mother since last Friday.
When detectives found teen, they obtained a full confession where he said his original intent to rob the victim of her purse.
He also described how he attempted to choke her with both hands.
Additionally, he admitted to continually beating her with his fist; and to the sexual assault that followed.
Lakeland Police released a surveillance video tape showing teenager walking through the Hotel and he appeared to be an older suspect.
Although he is only 14 years of age, he stands approximately 5.7 and weighs about 215 lbs.
