The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their first public appearance Tuesday evening after the birth of their son, holding the still-unnamed boy to cheers from a crowd outside St. Mary’s Hospital.
Crowds anxiously awaited their departure, and to get a first glimpse at the new born baby.
Kate Middleton came out holding the – unnamed – infant, and slowly passed him off to Prince William. They walked forward to answer a few questions from the media and fans.
“It’s very special,” said Prince William, who emerged from St. Mary’s Hospital with his wife, Kate, a day after the birth of his son. He joked: “He’s got her looks, thankfully.”
Security guards escorted the couple out of the facility as they smiled toward the crowd. This will be the first time the baby has gone outdoors, and seen together as a family.
